If they can get by without having to play Washington or the Devils this year, I'd say they have a very good chance. Caps by far look like the best team in the league right now.

Yep, caps are good and they give us a problem, just like the devils.

Hopefully Philly can knock off the Devils, and we'll end up with Philly (always a good series), then the caps will be so beat up that we may have a shot.

Agreed, but I'm not sure the Goons in Philly have what it takes to win 4 over NJ. Id rather see the caps get upset and take my chances with the Devils, but thats just my opinion, not what I am expecting to happen. The Pens usually bring their A game when its playoff time, and if the last regular season game at the Igloo is anything like they will play in the playoffs, it will be a breeze.

If the Pens make it to the finals again this year, who do you expect to be representing the West? I hope it is the Blackhawks myself, so the Pens can shut Hossa down again.

The series in favor of Philly between these 2 clubs. 5-1 in favor of Philly

Pens better bring a different defense tomorrow night for Game 2

they better bring a lot more than that lol only good thing about that game was that their powerplay actually managed to score...how they even managed to keep that game close with the way they played is beyond me

Ok, So round 1 is over...

Who would you like to see the Pens play in round 2. There a few different possibilities depending on how the other series play out.

The only certainty is that Pittsburgh will not play Washington in the second round. Here are the following scenarios that could play out for the Penguins:

> If WASHINGTON and BUFFALO win their series:
Penguins play Buffalo Sabres (home-ice advantage – Buffalo).

> If WASHINGTON and BOSTON win their series:
Penguins play Boston Bruins (home-ice advantage – Pittsburgh).

> If MONTREAL and BUFFALO win their series:
Penguins play Philadelphia Flyers (home-ice advantage – Pittsburgh).

> If MONTREAL and BOSTON win their series:
Penguins play Montreal Canadiens (home-ice advantage – Pittsburgh).

I am pretty much going to accept the fact that Washington is going to win their series, so that narrows it down to Boston and Buffalo. Boston is currently winning that series 3-2 (game 6 is on Monday) I'm just happy that they will not be playing the Caps till the next series at the minimum, and we will not be seeing NJ (thanks to the Flyers... BOO) I haven't looked at the season series between those 2 teams yet, but I'm thinking that Boston would be the better team for the Pens to play.

Comments? opinions?

my vote is for boston because I have heard less about them, buffalo seems to have a decent team this year, but havent heard the media or anyone worrying about boston

Boston is definitely the easiest opponent for the next round. They are banged up and we have done fairly well against them. I'd be happy to let Philly beat up on the Caps, then face them in the conference finals

Incase you havent heard this one yet:

Guy walks into a bar and asks for an Ovechkin.
Bartender, confused, asks what's an Ovechkin?
"Just a white Russian without the ice and cup."
