I need some advise. I am looking to do a gear upgrade to my 2008 V6 Mustang and not sure what to buy. Was looking at this. http://www.americanmuscle.com/fopege3ra1.html

Would this fit my car and is this all I would need?

uumm, stupid question but do the 05+ stangs have an 8.8 or a 7.5? If it has a 8.8 than yes, that all you need, plus gear grease, and maybe an install kit.

you will need to get 7.5 gears/install kit

THere should be a tag on the rear that says 8.8 or 7.5, its a sticker.

Sticker. If it is a 7.5 is there a gear ratio that you recommend?

shoot, i meant the metal tag on one of the diff cover bolts, sorry Erik... and what do you wanna do with the car? 4:10s would be a great drag racing gear, but kinda kill your long distance mpg, 3:73s would be a comfortable medium.

this is a upgrade so in the future I can put in a supercharger. I would think that the V6 would come with a 7.5 and the GT would be 8.8 just not sure. I could buy this is stead. http://www.americanmuscle.com/v6gears.html

i could be wrong but i think 04 was the last of the 7.5 all together. im thinking the new body started 8.8's in all the stangs... i could be wrong though, just what i was thinking

It says in the description for the 7.5 rear gears that you posted that they work in v6's up to 2011 so I'm guessing all v6s still have 7.5 rears.

Ok..now in english for those of us who don't work on cars.:D

they dont have positive traction( both wheels spin while doing a burnout), and the 7.5 rear ends are weak and break with not alot of power, i have customers that have almost stock v6 stangs break em all the time.

Ok..I understand now what you are saying. I'm not looking to turn my car into a drag car but rather just upgrade and get alittle more power out of that I have if that makes any sinces.

putting in gears is more like leveraging the power you have.

So your saying not to do it unless I upgrade to a 8.8? Or not to do it at all?

i know this is completely random and off the wall but I found out the other day that I have 4.10s in my rx7. Any clue what kind of power that would handle before i should upgrade?

So your saying not to do it unless I upgrade to a 8.8? Or not to do it at all?

Pretty much. You'd still be able to put the 3:73s in and by the sounds of it be a lot better off in the long run.

depends on what you do with the car and how you drive it. if you are just a driver that wants a little more "seat of the pants" feel then by all means do the gear swap in your rear. if you run the car hard at all or plan on making any kind of power over stock then dont waste your money putting gears in the 7.5, buy a take out 8.8 then gear it. the 8.8 will handle most anything the average joe can throw at it

Pops you can find an 8.8 with gears already in it for not too much money. You can probably buy stock 05-09 gt axles for realtively cheap too whenever people upgrade them for 31 spline and up stuff.

So let me get this right....

Western PA's #1 Performance Center doesn't know what cars come with a 7.5 and 8.8?

i cant imagine the 2011's have 7.5's 300 horses to the crank is too much once it gets to the rearend.
