Ok so second gear syncro decided to eat it on my cobalt ls (2.2). So I priced out how much it was to fix it and how much it was for one out of a junkyard. Well it was cheaper to just swap out transmissions. So I have the transmission out as we speak just did it tonite. What a time consuming deal. I had to take the frame off and everything haha. But I checked out my clutch and flywheel in the process of this realized it was about time for a clutch so I'm getting an Exedy Stage 2 clutch. Well my flywheel needs replaced to. I dont believe in shaving. So my question is what is the difference between the steel and lightweight flywheels? I hear 2 sides to the story between the two. What would be better for a street driving sometimes going from light to light with people and every now and again going up to the track. It's not heavily modded but if I'm replacing it I rather get performance out of it. Should I go with a lightweight flywheel or a stock weight flywheel? Note I'm not worried about any drivability issues. More about the performance anyhow. Any help would be appreciated on this.

Going with any lighter weight drive train components will decrease the amount of power loss to the drive wheels. So I vote for a lighter flywheel for your particular setup.

Ok thanks! I just ordered a stage 2+ by Exedy. It's a 3 puck clutch and handles up to 400hp It'll never see that much lol. And I went with the Fidanza lightweight aluminum flywheel.

oh yea the clutch is made of carbon kevlar and the flywheel takes 6 pounds off the crank
