anyone know any good software out there that will work on my 347 and allow me to spin it to 6500 rpms with out the computer breaking up?

Didnt you have lasota tune it? What he set the limiter to? Dont you have a msd box on it?

yes, lasota tuned it, I think the limiter is 6200, and yes I have a msd box. I was just looking to see if I could push it to 6500

he can remove the rev limiter, but the stock 94-95 computers dont have the processor speed to handle the high of rpm

haha wow, this made me feel good, i can hit 7500 rpm stock. no offense. I wouldnt go in and do this yourself. My friend tried and blew his engine. Ask any speed shop and see what they say.

I've been told the processor in my PCM can't handle the higher rpms as well...
Having said that, I have the rev limiter set at 7000 and I have the 1-2 shift commanded at 6300 and the 2-3 shift commanded at 6450 on the 4R70W. I haven't been able to datalog rpms yet but I suspect the actual shift rpms are 6800 to 7000. When tuning at the track it did seem to 'cut out' at higher rpms but some said it was likely just tickling the rev limiter.
FWIW I use the SCT Pro Racer Package.

From the factory, smaller motors can almost ALWAYS spin more than a v8. Its an apple to oranges comparison.
But mike you dont need 6500 rpm. Do it consistantly and your block is byebye.

I have a rotary engine bud haha. It's all free-moving parts. I think my rev limiter is at 8000

okay.
anyways, mike i heard don talking to tim about this. something to do with with the processor only being 15 hz or something like that and they have an upgrade i believe he said to 18 hz. why dont you send him a pm about it. he is on here.

Why are you set on revving to 6500? Will your motor make power all the way to 6500? If not, there's no point.

Ah I see, can you post your most recent dyno graph? If both curves are falling before your current rev limiter, there's no reason to rev the motor any higher, it would just put unnecessary stress on everything. If one or both are still climbing, you could try spinning the motor a bit more to see if you get more out of it.

In my opinion I dont think its worth it. You wont get much more power and I wouldn't run the risk of blowing something. But thats just me.

The early Mark VIII's had an 18Mz PCM, Foxes and SN95's were 15Mz. Many people swap out the crystal (oscillator) from a Mark VIII PCM to those cars. Foxes can rev higher than SN95's with the same PCM speed because the PCMs have less to do per clock cycle. The problem, often seen with SN95's and sometimes Foxes is that somewhere north of 6200 - maybe 6500, maybe 7000 the motor will start breaking up and/or losing power. That's because they have so much to do per clock cycle that something loses out and that could be fueling and/or timing. Setting the rev limiter higher or the PIP lower doesn't help.
The 18Mz crystal gives you a bit more headroom and sometimes solves this issue. On Rob's car - he took the PT88 off and went NA, he was getting it at 6500. His was partially this and partially valve springs - so we swapped out the crystal to an 18Mz unit. Much smoother now and no break up at 6600 - which is as high as he'll take it.
Like I said, you can get the crystals from an early Mark or someone said that the '96-98 V6 Mustangs have this too, but I'm not sure on it. I scoured the internet to find just the crystals and finally found one company that had them - and I bought all of them. The swap is not for the faint of heart. We were NOT 100% sure the ones I got would work, but they did, and I'm not sure if they work on all Fox and SN 95 PCMs. Plus it is so easy to trash the PCM when you do this as you have to desolder the old one, then solder in the new one without overheating it or using too much solder. Plus there are two crystals usually on the PCM and you have to pick the right one - it's usually marked. Then you need a complete retune. I thought I could just make a couple of global corrections to Rob's car because you are changing the speed by a set percentage - for some reason, this wasn't the case. But once we got it all done, it runs like a champ.

I wonder how hard it would be to straight out emulate the pcm, you can get a motherboard the size of a gum stick for $200 and just store the settings in rom. http://www.gumstix.com/
The hard part would be actually getting the software to run on it and converting the ethernet output into whatever the rest of the car is reading.
