I have a carbed 414w, 5 speed. Car runs a steady 195*. Took it out today, started fine, got on it twice, car hesitated a little then drove fine. At the end of a 20 min drive car stumbled a little then stalled (was cruising on the highway). Let it sit about 15 min, checked fuel, spark, both good. Finally fired after holding the throttle to the floor. Would a bad MSD ignition box cause this? How about a fuel pump on its way out? I have a full return style fuel system to replace the used red pump and dead head regulator in there now. Drove fine the whole way home on the highway, jumped on it about half-throttle and seemed like it was gonna die again (stumbled). The only engine related electronics on this car is the msd 6al (bought used), msd dizzy (used) and new blaster 2 coil. The fuel system is super simple, a holley dead head regulator, and a holley "red" fuel pump (used), Pro-systems carb. Was gonna start with upgrading the fuel system and go from there.

when you turn your fuel pump on does it sound different from any other time you have started the car?

Sounds like a plug issue to me but you said spark was good. Do you have a fuel pressure gauge?

could be a fuel delivery problem, or a bad coil... maybe the coil is overheating.

If it wanted to die when u jumped on it , it sounds like it might be getting to much fuel like its flooding it....just by sounds i think its a carb problem.

Pump sounded the same. Its gonna get swapped out for a return style with an A1000. Pressure looked the same on the gauge. The only way I checked for spark was with a timing light. Although I started checking after the car sat for about 20 minutes. I do have the coil mounted about an inch off of the drivers side head. I've had the same setup on the car for over a 1000 miles with alot of runs on it with no problems.
