I went to Ocean City, MD last week with the g/f. This week sucks super bad now that I'm back to work after a taste of freedom...back to lovely 11 hour days starting bright and early at 6am again...:pout:

Me and the wife are going to a navy friends vacation house an hour in land from the outer banks. No beach but a nice house with a long pier, 2 jet ski's, in BFE equals great times. It's near Beufort i thinks it's spelled.

I agree. Seems like you get to do more different things instead of spending a whole week in one area.

The ultimate vacation for a true gearhead is the Hot Rod Power Tour. :)
My only regret is I'm addicted to Carlisle and I don't get to long haul.

I am a fan of the "mini" vacations....
Next Month I will be going to Detroit to the Woodward Dream Cruise for 3 days and then in October I will be going to St Louis for 5 days for the LSX Shootout.

We go to Holden Beach, NC, which is past Wilmington, near the SC border, going in a couple weeks, can't wait. Before my oldest niece was school age, we'd go in September and get the discounted rates. Our family (my parents, oldest brother and his family, my younger sister and her family, my youngest sister, and assorted aunts, uncles, and cousins) has been going to Holden for over 20 years. The barrier islands around Wilmington and south are all nice. It's all family oriented, development is restricted, etc. In Holden, it's like they roll up the sidewalks by 10pm. I'm with Matt.. vacations are for doing nothing, and Holden is an awesome place to do it. Lay on the beach, read, boogie board, throw horseshoes (makes beer go down even easier!! :D ) etc. There is a fishing pier there, fishing charters, etc, if you're into fishing. Close enough to Wilmington to go up to see the USS North Carolina and do stuff up there, or to go to Myrtle. One of my favorite things about Holden is it is a sea turtle nesting beach. It's pretty cool to see the baby turtles make their way down the beach, leaving little flipper marks in the sand. Check out http://hbtownhall.com/ to get more links and info.

Didn't you tell me you have to drive all day for work? That's gonna be a problem! Sorry to hear man, and I thought I had bad luck!
I'm in St Augustine Florida now. We got here Saturday, staying until this coming Sunday. We spent the first half of the trip in a bed and breakfast in the historic part of town, now we are spending the last half in a hotel on the beach.

I plan to play quite a bit of golf down there... I can play 2 of the country's top 100 courses on the weekday for around $50 each.... really lookin forward to it....
I wanted to go on a cruise with my parents, but with our wedding next May, its just too much, cuz i'm spending quite a bit on our honeymoon cruise.... O well...
