sooo heres a shot in the dark but does anyone know what has to be done to take a pi intake and put it onto non-pi heads? i have read that all you do is use pi intake gaskets put them on and put a silicone sealant around the heads where the openings were for the pi heads. i was just wondering if anyone has ever done this swap and if so if there are any other things that need to be changed as well. thanks.

You have to have the tube and nipple from the back of the water pump that makes clearance, 96's usually don't have the right one, 98's do. 97 is a crap shoot.

you can probably find a set of heads for a few hundred bucks.....might be better to wait and do the whole PI swap at once?

I don't think you HAVE to. But to get the full gains you would.

I have a 1995 mercury grand marquis i've spent a lot of time on crownvic.net reading about the swaps... they almost ALL do the PI intake and head swap at the same time. as the heads don't flow much better than the intake on the non PI cars.
I'd do it all at once if i was going to even bother. and since the cams are in the heads... yeah. will have to re-degree those as well. might as well upgrade that too... it' gets pricy quick.

i get ya man ha thats why i would like to do just the intake because i have it and got it for free lol. i mean if you guys really dont think i should do it i get ya lol im just sick of getting beat up on by 1.8T's and the like. panther's are so hard to mod even though its the same basic motor as a mustang... fairly upsetting.

I totally feel you there. it's quite frustrating how different the two engines are and how hard it is to pull just a few ponies out of them. if it was free by all means i'd check over on Crownvic.net and see what some folks who work on them a lot do. mustang guys here might be able to add some insight. but while it's a very similar engine, there are a lot of little difference. I was so pissed after seeing how hard it was to make HP with the panther engiens I was close to ripping mine out and putting an LS1 in it.... but decided to just leave the car slow lol

Just install PI cams straight up, don't worry about degreeing them, however you cannot install PI cams on 95 heads, have to be 96 or newer the exhaust side will bottom out.

I did the swap on mine. About 3-4 yrs ago not real sure. I think you just need the silicone around the water ports. Changed the tube and used the pi gaskets. Then I put the procharger on and never had any probs. Car felt alittle stronger too.

i'd sell you the head from my PI motor. It's a ford crate motor with about 7000 miles on it.
