Don't forget about LM2's, they have a great sound and are far from quiet without cats

Went down today to take the car to get aligned. I decided it was too loud when driving. I ordered some dynomax bullets to quiet it down some.
From my experience doing quite a few decibel level reading/measuring experiments in various highschool and college physics classes, I would bet my car at 2500rpm is upwards of 190 decibels. I got a headache driving it 1.1 miles. Tim said himself its one of the loudest cars he has ever heard. It was just too over the top and hopefully the bullets will calm it down.

hahaha c'mon son, the decibel is a logarithmic scale! 190 db is much louder than the space shuttle would be at launch :brick:

I'm gonna agree, there's no way your car is putting out 190db, lol.
here's a decibel level chart:
http://www.esoundproof.com/Screens/Basics/Academy/Sound%20Measurement/Decibels/dBChart.aspx
The chart lists a military jet at 140 decibels, 50 shy of your exhaust...The loudest possible sound is 194db, and if your car had put out 190db, you would have already broken your ear drums and your hearing tissue would have been destroyed.
I'm not doubting your car was loud enough to give you a headache, I knew when I read you were doing side exhaust with LM1's that you would hate it. The dynomax bullets should help though.

I guess your car surpassed the death to hearing tissue mark, congrats, YOU FAIL

Was curious about decibels, and found another site that shows sounds are possible above 194db, but found some other interesting facts:
"183 db = 6 P.S.I. TOTAL DESTRUCTION OF ALL STRUCTURES, PARTICLE VELOCITY (BLAST WIND) IS 180 MILES PER HOUR. 0.9 MILES FROM HIROSHIMA ATOMIC BOMB AND 3.3 MILES FROM 1MEGATON NUCLEAR BOMB, LESS 0.1 % OBJECT SURVIVAL -REF.2."
"190.60 db = 2.0000 POUNDS T.N.T."
and finally...
"202-198db - HUMAN DEATH FROM SOUND (SHOCK) WAVE ALONE."
Put simply, that's one loud car.

lololol i meant 140. I dunno why on earth I put 190. Probably because it was 1am and I just worked for 10 hours. I know that its a base 10 scale I wrote a paper on it last year.

lol so now your an expert? hahaha car is loud as hell.. can't wait to your vtec kicks in and it goes :hurt:

still calling bs lol
140 decibels while cruising at 2500 rpm? Remind me to drive waaaaayyyy far away when you're on the dyno hahaha. My car is rather loud, I wouldn't put it anything over 112-114 db (which is still a pretty large range)

Its pretty ridiculous for real. Whenever my car was getting aligned, the guy took it for a test drive whenever he was done. I know you've been to Tims place. You know the red light right past his shop? The garage i got it aligned at is about a mile past that directly before a GM dealer. The guy drove it up to the red light and turned around. Myself and the other guy that was at the garage heard it the entire way except for about 15 seconds or so which I would assume is when he got to the light to turn around.
I was in drumline for 4 years and we practiced at 117 db. Its louder than that.
If i was you, I would absolutely be calling BS as well because it does sound retarded lol. But it doesnt even matter because I purchased some bullets for it anyway.
well, it would be over 100 times louder than your drumline was... but I'm just giving you $$$$ because you threw out some pretty retarded numbers and I know you're a smart kid.
So you're going to have different mufflers on it for saturday? I was actually looking forward to hearing it.

i can guarentee that your car is not louder than an f-16/f-22/f-35 at take off.
F35 at 1000ft is 152db
F16 is 150 db
F22 is also at 152db
I have been around these and i can tell you that there is no way you could possibly be within 1000ft of them without two to three stages of ear protection. When a f22 and f35 take off you HAVE to have two sets of ear plugs and a set of ear muffs and you will still have ringing in your ears, Esp when a run up is going on. So i call MAJOR BS.
Even the blackhawks i used to work on, fly in and do run ups on have a db level of 134 to 161 ranging depending on altitude, flying conditions and so on and so forth and needed to have special helmets when flying in them for certain amounts of time cause it was company standard due to hearing safety.

Aside from all that, unless you are running the bullets in line with the LM1s good luck its still gonna be stupid loud LOL. I have dynomax bullets on my Firebird and I can hardly stand them.

you know what, if colton wanted to quiet his exhaust up, he should just weld two more mufflers after the existing two. that would be a really good idea
