Started building the front rotors this past weekend and I hope to finish the install this weekend with some help from a few other GTO guys.
Let me know what you think :)

I also installed a new ridiculously expensive battery (not by choice), some custom Maverick Man carbon fiber hood scoop inserts and a Billet Prototypes catch can over the weekend, and helped out some guys drop in my buddy's new 416ci LS3 into his GTO.

Those Wilwoods are awesome, I'm guessing those set you back a pretty penny.
I really like the CF hood scoop bezels, does anyone make the grill opening bezels in CF? I think that would really tie in the look.

The Wilwoods weren't cheap, lol, but much less money than the z06 brake kit or some of the Harrop, AP Racing, and Holden Specialty Vehicles (HSV) kits they sell for my car. Plus the Wilwoods are made in America, so replacement parts should be easier to get than stuff from Australia :)
Specs are 14" two-piece front rotors, 6 piston calipers, and 12.19" one-piece rotors and 4 piston calipers for the rear, all the mounting hardware, and stainless lines for all four corners. I got in on a one-time only group buy and they ended up costing a hair over $3k shipped, which was a savings of over $600 compared to most vendor prices.
Yeah, the same guy makes the sport appearance package grilles (the silver ones I have now) in carbon fiber as well, but I need to get on the wait list for them. He makes parts on a limited run basis. I also have his carbon fiber trunk lid spoiler and I'm thinking about buying his rear bumper lower insert.

Yep, I was trying to get the winter gas out of the tank and got it filled back up at Sheetz Saturday night. Had to get up super early in the morning to drive out to Washington, PA to work on that engine install and a few other cars, so I didn't stick around at sheetz.

Yes, and you couldn't see all of it. It's my buddy's father-in-law's house. He has the C6 Vette, G8 GT, 2010 Camaro SS RS that you can't see, 2004 Mustang Mach I, 2006? Mustang GT with a TVS, and a big Ford F250. His son-in-law has arguably the nicest new generation GTO in the country (the brazen orange one getting the new engine) and he's getting an F150 Raptor soon. The blue goat is mine, the other orange goat is cammed car from Ohio, there were 2 black gto's there from pittsburgh, and the one guy brought his wife's charger r/t instead of his 416ci GTO.
The PGH GTO crew has really stepped up over the last year. I'm not really from PGH, but I hang out with them a bunch, and I'm basically one of the slowest cars left in the bunch. Nearly everyone else will be pushing 450-600 at the wheels by the end of this summer. lol. Two 416 LS3 cars, one 418 car with tons of nitrous that spent some of its life over in Germany and runs very low 10's, one guy with a Maggie 112HH, one guy is in the process of swapping in a 427 right now...it's getting crazy.
I may have to get a TVS2300 next year just to try to keep up. haha.

Updates:
Got the rear brakes installed last Saturday with help from my friend Jared. Hacking up the dust shields was the hardest part, mainly because we didn't want to take a reciprocating saw to them like Wilwood says to do. We felt the parking brake lines were too close to take a saw to the dust shields, so we just hacked them apart with tin snips. I was really surprised with how easy the factory rotors came off, didn't even need to use a rubber mallet on them.

Dust shields cut, caliper mounting brackets on
http://i305.photobucket.com/albums/nn232/psugoat/Project%20Giant%20Brakes/IMG_0150.jpg
Test fit of everything, had some contact between the caliper and the rotor, so we had to shim it more.
http://i305.photobucket.com/albums/nn232/psugoat/Project%20Giant%20Brakes/IMG_0143.jpg
I still think they're a little too close for when the metal of the rotors will expand with some heat in them, so I plan on putting one or two more shims on each mounting bolt.
Everything torqued down.
http://i305.photobucket.com/albums/nn232/psugoat/Project%20Giant%20Brakes/IMG_0147.jpg
Then we bled the rear brakes and went through Wilwood's break-in process.
http://i305.photobucket.com/albums/nn232/psugoat/Project%20Giant%20Brakes/IMG_0163.jpg
You can see the black electro-coat wearing off where the pads contact. Everything else will stay black and hopefully not rust.
We ran out of time to start on the front rotors, and it's good that we did because I later found out that Wilwood provides the incorrect size washers for installing their front caliper mounting brackets...you would think with as much money as I paid for this kit, they would provide the right size washers that actually fit over the caliper bolts :frusty:
I took a funny picture of the front rotors during a food break.

Last night I went over to Matt's house again to use his safety wire tool to wire up the two-piece front rotors. I re-checked the torque on all of the bolts, 85 in-lbs, and then began wiring them up. It took me 3 tries to wire up the first pair of bolts properly, but then I got the hang out how the tool works and it got easier. It took me about an hour per rotor, with some time for bs'ing and drooling over the engine bay in his car. I found that about 16-19 wire twists between each bolt was just right...any more and the wire would snap. lol.
Didn't have the fancy camera with me, so cell phone pics will have to do for now.

I'm going to try to drill out the front washers at work with a drill press, since my dad didn't really have any luck finding the right size and thickness washers at 4 different part stores today...since I'm hoping to install the fronts this weekend. If I can't figure out the washer situation, I'm calling up Wilwood and making them send me the correct ones.

Next year neighbor :) The plan was always to build up the car for appearance and handling, then start adding more power and strengthening drivetrain parts.
Plus I still need to pay it off :peep:
