With heads and cams on the Lincoln 4.6L DOHC, I have now turned attention to future engine upgrades. It likely won't be until the offseason or maybe even next year.

I plan to stay naturally aspirated and was looking to go high compression.

I would like to stay with the Teskid block, either another block or the current stock 150K block. I'm not looking for bored or stroked as I think the DOHC does better just revving higher, but I'm open minded.

So what are the best rotating assembly choices (crank, rods, pistons, rings)?

Seems that people like a stock (kellogg) crank, manley rods, and a forged piston of choice...mahle, diamond...etc

To be honest....(and not sure how fast you're looking to go)....but you have your work cut out for you with 281ci, naturally aspirated, and 4000lb car.

Why bother with high end rotating assemblies if you're going to stay N/A?

For a big car I like big cubes. Then again for a small car I like big cubes. :) Cubes are cheaper than the rpms. :wof:

Stroke that bad boy....that car would just love some more torque!!!

What are the downsides? Will it be able to match the rpms of a standard bore/stroke? Seems to me the longer stroke would result in more piston slap, especially at higher rpms.

Put a 5.4 in it lol.

if you want high rpms (7-8 thousand) stroking it isnt necessarily the way to go, the longer the stroke the slower it will rev

Well, I'm already pushing 7000 now, so with forged internals and high compression - I don't think 8000 would be out of the question. As a matter of fact, that's what I'm hoping for. It may require a closer look at the valvetrain, but the top end should be good for it.

And, I don't think a 5.4L block would physically fit?

if you want 8K rpms, I would keep it stock stroke and just do forged stuff, high compression, dome top pistons will help up your compression

i like the way this guy thinks. possibly a gt500 5.4 if you wanna go wit a power adder

Old school. No replacement for displacement. If I ever blow my 5.9 apart I may just put a 6.7 in it lol.

Trying to turn 8000 RPM sounds like a lotta broken parts to me.

I'd stroke it and keep the R's under 7.

But...to each his own!!

I vote 7.5 liter with more torque, less R's, and less money.
