Not sure when I'm going to install them, but not for a while. Hopefully before May.

Next up.... wheels! :pop2:

Who needs coil overs? Just pull the springs, cut them down half way and reinstall, it'll have a sweet bounce that screams high performance. ;)

In all seriousness though, those look sweet! What brand? It'll be a shame to hide them under the car.

I bet you're enjoying the extra mpg over the H3... That alone probably paid for these lol

hahaha yeah vdub shocks like to blow out if you want anything more than a 1" drop sooooooo I bought the K Sports. I'm pretty excited to lose the smooth factory ride and fx4 stance.

And yeah, the mpg increase is astounding. hummer would get 14 city 14 highway (regardless of cruise control at 65 or 85... weird eh?) and the CC I've been averaging around 23-24 city, only been on the highway once and got 31 @ 70-75. That combined with the insurance decrease certainly helped added up. Payments are almost identical, and I don't have a girlfriend at the moment so

hellaflush cc?
distinct possibility. I'm going to make that judgment call after I lower it on the stock rims first to get some measurements... :yo:

Coilovers going on wednesday - hopefully the installation goes smoothly cause I'd rather be spending the time caking more wax onto my cobra instead, but I wanna get this done.

Looks awesome Bo, once it has a little bit of camber that thing is gonna be absolutely perfect. The best part is while rollin around town the wheels could be confused for factory on the car, but with a high end look.

Oh and I fixed your camber so now you're all set. :thumb:

Thought I'd try to snap a few pics before I went to the gym tonight, but a thunder storm rolled in on me pretty quickly so I just shot a few and left. Not sure what I want to do with the ride height. I'd like it to go about .5" lower all around aesthetically, but I'm not willing to damage the car. Right now my front fender liners are getting grazed when I hit bumps. Hoping I can get an alignment with a touch more negative camber to fix that, but not sure if the K sports can do that or not since it's doesn't reuse any of the factory parts (has a pillow ball mount). I'm gonna be pretty bummed if I can't resolve the fender liner rubbing.

that looks way meaner. That black grill is much better than chrome.

If it were my car, I would take the door ding molding off, tint the headlights slightly, and paint the roof black.

MBH

hmmmmmm, never considered tinting the headlights... but you've got me thinking now lol.

I bought some 3m carbon fiber vinyl for the roof a while ago, just haven't done anything with it yet. I can't take the door ding stuff off, but I have considered vinyl wrapping it white, as well as the rear emblems. While I'd be at it, Possibly the chrome in the front grill. No idea what I'd do with the VW emblem since it has all of those holes/gaps in it :(

Here is some of the 3m di-noc on my xbox

I think if you can get that 3m on the roof without bubbles, it would be a better (reversible) option. If you don't like it, it's easier to undo.

I think either way the black roof will look cool.

And props on what you've done so far...looks 100x classier and barely even looks like a VW going down the road...definitely has a benz feel to it. The black grille is a very nice touch, as are the clear turn signals/marker lights. :thumb:

MBH

Thanks Dan!! Still needs more low lol. If I can get a thick metal skid plate for it (or make one for a VW MKV or Audi A3 fit) to protect the oil pan, it's going lower for sure.

I'm considering taking it somewhere and getting it put on professionally. The roof antenna makes me worry a lot, and it would be cheaper (and way easier) to have it done right the first time then to buy another roll of it and hope I get it right the second time around.

other random crap I ordered/installed:
Yellow flash to pass/high beam bulbs (halogen)
3000k fog bulbs and 6000k fog bulbs. Not sure which ones I'm going to like, and they were $15 bucks so why not.
boot leg 'illest' vinyls (I didn't want a big square sticker on it). I have one in black for a window and one in white for the rear hatch under the tail light.
I'm making my own intake (ghetto fabulous!)
I installed 6000k HIDs in the low beams

I'm getting a slow window regulator (?) fixed next friday, so after that I decided that I'm going to give in and tint my windows 35%. Found a coupon for a good installer that's local to me (banksville road).

Also, found replacement fender liners for $33 shipped. Waiting to see if I get a hole in mine to see if I gotta buy em or not.

Let me know how it goes with the tint shop, if it goes well let me know what the shop is because that would be a short trip for me. I have been considering doing the scion for a while because it gets downright boiling hot inside while I'm at work...

I think you should figure out a way to mount a vuvuzela to the back of your CC, you would go down in the ricer history books with whistle tips and FMCAI's. Oh just imagine the sweet sounds... lol

I definitely gotta see what I can do with a little bit of painters tape with one of those vuvuzelas though. I might kill myself before I can post any details though. They're so loud annoying hahaha

The tint shop is double take automotive, they did a friend's CC and it came out nicely - I'm going to take a very close look at the work before I commit to the shop though.

Yeah, just return it to stock and it'll satisfy the inspectors. That's all I did for the Hummer as well. The rims were factory take offs that I had painted, so no big deal, just swapped those back, put the factory grill back on, took out the stereo system, took off the brush guard and returned the front to factory height.

I was talking to my salesman today about it actually, went in to get a tail light bulb replaced. Nate's had bad luck with tail light bulbs on his too, I think he's had 3 go out on them. It's a common problem with the CC I guess, dunno why

Oh yeah, and when the tech came out and looked at the car, he looked at the exhaust tips and said "did you put a high flow muffler on this? it looks pretty sporty for some reason" I just laughed and said no, they're just exhaust tips but thank you I like them too.

Just read that the 3m carbon fiber di-noc, while it's still a vinyl... is considered to be 'permanent' and may cause damage to the paint and clear coat when removed.

Toyed around with the idea of vinyl wrapping the car in flat white though. Maybe I'll install a sheet of vinyl on the roof and then the dinoc over top?

That sounds like it would work to me. I'd call 3m and make sure there won't be a problem arise from different expansion rates between regular vinyl and the di-noc since it gets so blazing hot in the summer here. At the very least I would stick to 3m brand vinyl.

Thanks buddy!! Right now I have like 3.5* of camber in the rear and 2.5* camber in the front. I feel hispanic. Not entirely a fan of the look, thus no pictures are posted as is... I am looking forward to getting the car aligned, but I've either been out of town or going to friends' weddings every weekend since I've lowered it so I haven't even had a chance to be without the car for a day :hurt:

The one thing I'll say is that the car turns a lot of heads for being relatively subtle. I've had a number of people try to talk to me in traffic, none of them ever have any idea what kind of car it is. I ought to say it's a ford bronco hahaha

OK guys, so I need some feedback.

Looking into buying a set of used projector headlights for my CC.

Right now I have two options. Factory ($200 more) or blacked out.

factory:

New harnesses, D1S bulbs/ballasts, vagcom, + these are very expensive headlight units...

Ruthless

factory ftw

95riosnake
07-21-2010, 08:54 PM
I think the blacked out projectors would take the car in more of a racy direction rather than the high class look you said you were going for. Have you considered doing an HID projector retrofit into an extra pair of non-projector factory headlights? If you do the work yourself it will be far less expensive than the factory setup. I have some sites you can check out for components if you decide to go that route.

computer works again.. for time being anyways. Takes FOREVER to perform any actions though.

next mod is probably going to be new computer. might be a ways off ATM. Outside chance my computer will be able to render the videos of the dyno day without endangering the manifold so cross your fingers peoples! lol

Thank you, I appreciate the offer. I'm just going to buy a new tower once I recoup from my GF's birthday spending (it's this weekend) and be done with it. most likely the gateway sx2840-01 since it's been getting pretty good reviews esp. given it's price point. Built some computers w/ friends back in high school, don't feel like doing all that again haha :smash:

Go to "bleepingcomputer.com"
Download "combofix.exe"
Run it..."safe mode with network" would be ideal but works in normal mode as well.
Takes a while....perhaps 30 minutes or so....
Reboot.
Computer runs like new....

Just saying....

Get an Asus. They're currently the top manufacturer of pretty much everything computer. You can get an amazing bang for your buck with them. Look on websites like newegg.com. You can find pretty much everything you need with a nice little discount. I got my $1000 MSI gaming laptop from there for $800.

I built an MSI full tower a few years ago and all the stupid lights on the motherboard were super annoying. Very high quality parts though. Now I just buy a Dell xps every few years and throw it out when the hardware fails.

just did this and now my photoshop cs5 serial key is invalidated... not thrilled right now... which is completely strange, as I downloaded nothing from any torrents or anything - just from adobe directly and then entered the serial keys. WTF!

computer runs quickly as far as I can tell, but I'm pretty mad about losing photoshop at the moment so I don't care to spend much more time with it :target:

Macs are crap, all they are is a windows computer with a different operating system. Frankly you can go out and get a windows computer and have the same exact thing for about $1200 cheaper.

Not familiar with photoshop, but sounds like Adobe's issue. Never seen or heard of anything like this happening. Was your photoshop copy legit? No hacked serial numbers or anything like that?

i download tons of music. i have close to 5000 songs on my computer. not a virus at all. oh and anything i can do much quicker. and this OS works soo much better and less glitchy. and too another reason is i am into music recording and it comes with the program for that already that costs close to 800 bucks for the similar windows version. both have pros and cons. you are probably really into computers and anyone who is into computers hates macs.

its not that i hate macs, but right now I have a computer that costs $1000, I have never had a virus and I can do just as much as someone with a mac. Right now i'm in college for visual effects and motion graphics. it does everything a mac does just as quickly. but everyone has there own opinion. Not to mention I get all my software for free haha but thats another story.

It was a legit serial number. Doubt it's Adobe's problem since it was fine before I ran the program... either way, it's my problem now :smash:

you should be able to, they usually work as long as only one instance is running at the same time. depending upon the type of key that is.

yea, I'm just wondering if it's going to still think that it's being used by this computer I'm on right now. Not the biggest deal in the world, just irritating lol

This is what I'm thinking of getting once I get that far down my to-do list:

This would be perfect for you bud, knowing that you do photoshop i can only imagine what else you do.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16883220044

and plus for that price you cant complain.

It would have all the hard drive space in the world for all your stuff, with a processor and enough ram to beast any application you would want to run. Asus is an extremely good brand.

still rocking out my old computer. haven't been using it much recently, so it's been a good excuse to save some cash munniez.

Found a picture I haven't posted - I like the perdy colors, and the lack of snow on the ground.

Yeah, truth be told, there was a corner of a curb that stuck out at 90* and covered in leaves that took a bite out of one. That's the big reason I am thinking of cutting my losses and moving on.
I say keep them
Thanks, Chad! I like em, but dunno how I feel about the curbage. Plus to be as low as I want, I need a lot of camber.
