Waiting for him to post the dyno sheet and all the specs. I believe the tuner of choice for the new 6.4 Diesels are spartan tunes. That with a dpf delete and cold air intake netted one guy 570 with no juice. There is another that did 800 on juice.

6.4s are hit or miss.. Some have great success with them and others 90% of the time there truck sits in the shop needing worked on..

With lil mods these things put out big numbers

Well he went 1041/1829 and blew the head gaskets out wiht a 2 stage nitrous of around 400hp shot.
HE appraently has alot of cash as he wasn't worried and said it would be back together in less then a week.

Those numbers are insane.

I was looking at an '04 with the 6.0, hesitant on getting it because of their problems.

If you get a 6.0 problem child. There are some things that you need to do first before adding power. Head gaskets and studs. Good set of gaskets are around 500 bucks. Also get an EGR delete kit. After those couple mods they are pretty reliable but pricey to make that way. The 6.4's seem pretty stout as you can get one do a dpf delete cold air kit and a spartan tune and make over 500.

the 6.0s are notrious for head gaskets.. And depending what year you get the turbos are alil weak also and the egr system is junk, but like mike said.. A good set of gaskets, ARP head studs, EGR delete and you should be good to go for a while.

The 6.4s are seeing some fuel filtering issues, coolant issues and the fact that they get 10mpg, but with lil mods they get great HP/TQ numbers

Ya like popping the rad's. Not to be to partial to one motor I would suggest a Cummins or Dmax. Downfall of a dodge is lack lauster front suspension parts, new ones are better. I don't really like the looks of the new chevy's or the independent front axle setup. They pull with them so they cant be to bad. I just like the big dana 60 hanging in the front of mine lol. Then the monster dana 80 outback. The 6.4 is a powerhouse but it has a limited production run of only a couple years and the new 6.7 is out and will need the bugs worked out of it.

Yea thats the big dilemma and worst part about it, IMO, is that there isnt a certain truck that does everything great. Duramax does everything good but nothing great and the IFS shouldnt be on a truck, doesnt sit high enough and to be honest is the ugliest truck thats out.. But i have hauled with it and it does a good job and the MPG is great (16.9 loaded and 17.8 empty trailer)..

Powerstroke is a power house and the auto tranny is better than an allison(stock form, but allison beats it out if both are modded) and with lil mods can be great, but only when its not in the shop. I think its a toss up btw dodge and ford on which is better looking, but would like to have a powerstroke but worried about dependibility, Also have hauled with one of these and it pulls just as good as the duramax but got crappy and i mean crappy MPG (11.7 loaded and 12.9 empty trailer).. But i love the overall look and interior of the Powerstroke..

Lastly, Dodge, worst thing they ever did was take the 5.9 out.. The new 6.7 i also heard has had many problems, mostly comp stuff. I think they are great looking trucks and have an ok interior, but the build of the rest of the truck is just not what it should be and the parts wear out faster than they should.. Im talking about stuff other than motor and trannys.. I would love to have a 5.9, 6 spd but i couldnt deal with all the costs of maintaining one.. But the good thing about new ones other than them not be as nice looking is that the auto they now put in them is the allison which would be a nice addition...

I am talking about my opinion on these and in no way trying to knock anyone's truck. I like all three makes, but in all different ways. Like i said in the beginning, all three do something good but none do everything great..
