mike if i was you i would do a similar setup to a Rick Anderson NA pipe for the fox bodies.. You have a shorter distance air has to travel and it puts the filter in the fender for actual cool air... Its funny that people that people call intakes that are inside the engine bay cold air kits, but infact its just sucking up air from inside the engine bay which is acutally hot air.

will the maf wiring stretch into the fenderwell?

Yes it will. I just pulled out my fender liner then pulled the wiring harness back into the fender then down to the MAF and plugged it in. This also cleans up your engine bay some as well. The harness reaches all the way down to my maf which is almost directly behind my fog light (the filter actually touches the back of the fog light, lol) so it should have plenty of length for what you need.

update, well unfortunetly due to cost reasons, the nitrous will be put on hold for right now, but it will still be a high compression hci 347. hoping for around 350-360 rwhp & rwtq, also it will be recieving an anderson motorsports AF-N71 cam and a bigger maf and 42lb injectors instead of the tfs2 cam, 75mm maf, and 30 lb injectors

scott5
03-19-2010, 06:52 PM
you will not be dissappointed with an anderson ford cam, believe me i know. hehe.. And why did you choose that cam? It doesnt really go with the combo you stated your doing. The AF-N91 seems to be more of the cam that your combo would like.

scott5
03-19-2010, 06:54 PM

http://www.andersonfordmotorsport.com/index.php?page=shop.product_details&flypage=flypage.tpl&product_id=556&category_id=191&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=1

If you compare them, the n-71 isnt suggested for the 347 or the high of compression your going to be running and is closer to what you want to spin.. If you didnt already buy it, look into the n-91.. I think you will be more pleased.. You could even call them and talk to Rick anderson himself and ask and see what he says to use..

Your getting the AFM valve springs put on your heads also right?

scott5
03-19-2010, 08:06 PM
thats a 331 stroker you posted a vid of.. If you read the info on them.. the n-71 is for 302-331 engines and up to 10.5 comp, but they have similar characteristics such as poor driveablilty below 2300rpm and close to rpm range with the n-91 peaking out 100 or so rpm more..

the n-91 is for 347 and up strokers with atleast 10.7 and your at 10.8 and they put out alot more HP

no, its not just about sound, I was just trying to get a feel for the lope of them

They are very lopey.. and they do have bad driveability under the RPMs it states. Thats the only downfall but i dont plan on being less than what it says at any time so i dont even consider that but for a street car its something to consider.. But cant wait to see this thing done!!!

Balaska347
03-21-2010, 10:48 AM
This biggest cam doesnt always make the most power. And bigger isnt always better. From what I understand, this is mainly a street car. By the sound of the combo it sounds to like your building a racecar. High comp, huge heads, giant cam, big injectors and tall gears = poor driveability. When I built my car I built it for driveability because I wanna cruise it on the street with ease but have good 1/4 ET. Everything on your combo is bigger then mine: cam, comp, heads, injectors and your gears should be. I made over 400 rwhp through an AOD on a mustng dyno. If bigger is better you should be well into the 400 range. Build your car for the purpose you plan on doing the most. By the way, I love my AFM cam I wont run anything but.

94svtcobra
03-21-2010, 11:59 AM
its just a weekend toy, so if its over the top, thats fine by me. the heads and intake I have are quite large, but I was given bad info, and was told the valves would fit my stock pistons, but they are too large. thats why im doin the 347 kit. and as far as the cam, still have to figure that one out

Balaska347
03-21-2010, 02:14 PM
If Rick Anderson recommended the N-71 then thats what I would go with. He dynos tons of different combos and knows what will work best. Those listings on his site about each cam are just general information. Its definitely a different combo which is cool. I look forward to seeing it done. You just might suprise some people.

Aside from the heads, intake (I will have Holley Systemax for both) and that you went to a fox style TB, my motor will be almost exactly the same as yours, lol. I'm also very excited to see what I end up with, it's gonna be a long wait for the next month, dropping my car off to Tim this Friday. Short block should show up from Fordstrokers first week of May.

By the way, what are your plans for an oil pan? You probably know the stock one won't fit with a girdle. I quickly found that there are no T-style pans available to fit a 94-95 due to clearance issues. If you are fine running a deep sump pan, you should be ok with what is available, it wasn't an option for me because of my ride height. I ended up having to get a custom road race pan from Canton.

I here ya dan, the suspense is killing me, haha

94svtcobra

not sure on the oil pan, I'll have to ask Tim about that one

95riosnake
04-19-2010, 02:34 PM
He may be able to notch the pan to clear where needed. I just wanted something to bring to him that he can just bolt on and go.

The areas of clearance issues are the clutch cable to the fork and the bell housing guide hole, as far as using a T-sump pan. I think the deep sump pans clear both

94svtcobra
04-19-2010, 07:51 PM
I'll talk to him about it, do you happen to have a part number for the pan u bought?

95riosnake
04-20-2010, 09:55 AM
The pan they have to modify is the
15-644S - 302 REAR SUMP RR T PAN WITH NO SCRAPER

You need to call Canton directly and talk to Nick, tell him you need the 15-644S pan modified to fit a 94-95 mustang with a T5.

There are two problems though, one is that it will take 4-6 weeks to get yours (I ordered mine on March 17th, and should be getting it in the next week or so), the second is that it is pricey at $425 + shipping.

Someone told me that this pan http://www.summitracing.com/parts/MOR-20506/?rtype=10 will fit as well, but I couldn't get a straight answer. You could always get it and if it needs minor clearancing, I'm sure Tim could handle it. The guy using it said he had a main girdle (you'll need a pickup designed for use with the main girdle), and a Tremec 3550...I'm not sure the differences between a T5 and a 3550 so I went with the Canton to be sure.

yes, tim's dad did the porting, not sure maybe a week or two?

95riosnake

Eh I'll probably wait and do it in the future, there's already enough for Tim to do to mine in the amount of time before Carlisle, lol.

ya mark, really. this project went from a heads, cam, intake swap to a fully built balls out 347 build

needless to say my dad is not thrilled about lending me the money, but I'll be paying him back this summer, so its all good

stopped down to tim's today, its so sick to see all the parts that are going on the car (cant believe what all is goin on the car), n the port work was rediculous, I dont think ive ever seen heads opened up that much, big thanks to tim's dad for the awesome port job

haha, ya, your car looked awesome as usual. when did you put the harness bar in?

95riosnake
04-30-2010, 10:47 PM
I picked that up over the winter, I have some Corbeau 5 point cam lock harnesses too, I just didn't put them in yet since they're silver and I didn't want Tim to have to worry about getting them dirty.

I wanted a 4 point roll bar with removable harness bar but just couldn't bring myself to swing the shipping cost

94svtcobra
04-30-2010, 11:16 PM
I'm going to bite the bullet soon and buy a 6 point, but it is annoying that shipping is like 200 bucks

Any updates on the car?

94svtcobra
05-10-2010, 12:40 AM
the block and heads went to the machine shop, and I believe are done, block recieved the full treatment, spray washed, bored, honed, line honed. heads were spray washed, competition valve job, and the decks were cut. Tim's hoping to have the engine assembled by the end of this week, and it will be ready for the 22nd

That was before all the problems were resolved. The weather correction on the dyno was all messed up. Tim and Rob Lasota figured it out and it made more acurate numbers after.

Rodeheavers
05-22-2010, 10:44 PM
for some reason my weather correction numbers read -28 degrees with like -10% baro.

I thought that the weather stuff was only for the correction factor?

97LaserRed

so if you wanted you could make their numbers read about 500whp??

Balaska347

Thats why I dont like when people post numbers as if it determines how fast there car is. There are too many variables that can change the outcome. They are excellent for tuning but if you want to show how much power your car makes post some ET's

i remember when i got my car tuned a wise wise man told me that, " You cant get obsessed with the dyno numbers. The numbers you wanna worry about are at the track". You remember who told me that Mike ? OHHHHH thats right , It was you lol. He's right too, the dyno numbers are great for tuneing and and nice to see after some hard work tho.

i think if you played with it enough you prolly could, but my weather station went crazy and the cars started to seem to loose power and tehn we decided to check it out and i ended up turning it off and using the standard correction instead of correction from the weather station.

94svtcobra
05-23-2010, 10:20 AM
just want to thank Tim, his staff, everyone who chipped in, and Lasota racing. I know I dont have any dyno numbers yet, but the car runs awesome, at half throttle it feels 100x stronger than my old 302 setup, so I can only imagine what its going to be like once I get it broken in and can go wot. We still have a few things to finish up, subframes, brakes, and msd 6al box, but as far as the engine goes I couldnt be happier, plus that N61 cam sounds unreal

Thats right Mush and I heard that you were kicking some tail and taking names at the flash light drags. I always say if my 250hp car beats your 400hp car you still suck lol. Lets see 1/4 mile ET thats the tell all.

+1 mine already seems to be running better than it did on the way home from dyno day and I've only put about 120 miles on it so far. I'm guessing after a couple hundred more miles it will be much stronger.
