Now i'm not knockin on any domestic vehicle by any means but y is it so hard to get a import class at all these local car shows around the uniontown area i mean come on now its always based on antiques, classics, old skool muscle n these new skool muscle rides n there isnt a class for any of us to be in i mean some hard core show guys dont wanna see these jap traps but here is my point of view on it WE are working with what we have now. WE dont have the old skool muscle... THEY are working with what they had back in the day....and no one understands that. it just kinda gets to me cause u pull in with an import its like u get looked at like ur not welcome cause its not ol skool........:boom:

I understand that most of the imports u see are totally junk but whn u own one that is at its tip top shape u can't get anywhere with it I mean come on look at the stuff going on else where like the west coast houston virginia just around herre no one cares about what their ride looks like then the hand full of us who do have nice ones get knocked for it. This stuff really chaps my cheeks if u know what I mean

Haha, I think you're getting bent out of shape over nothing. I've taken my car to shows numerous times, especially local shows with lots of old muscle and hot rods, and a newer car will never even be noticed, regardless of make. Keep doing your thing.... customize for you, not for everyone else. =)

Cork, u bite ur tounge, the 1994 mustang cobra is the greatest car ever made, regardless if its modded. Or not, lol jk
It goes both ways, I see a lot of really crappy domestics, and a lot of really crappy imports. I also see a lot of really nice ones both ways.
The problem with local car shows is that the older generation does not accept the new cars. I got crap from older corvette owners because I modified my C5. I admit, the mustang world is way better than the Corvette world because it has a lot of younger people in it.

Cork , I feel ya man. Im a die Hard american muscle guy, and as much as i hate to admit it, I've been beat by hondas before, realyy really fast hondas. I dont think i would ever build an import but i would own one. There are nice ones out there you just cant get gotti wit em. Simple paint scheme wit some carbon fiber a set of nice wheels and a huge turbo lol . whats wrong with that.

Cork I know exactly what you mean. I used to go to car shows in wexford all the time and never see any imports. Although people make valid points. Many people aren't interested in seeing a tuned civic si with a full invader body kit. But you dont find those. You're more likely to find a pos honda who thinks he the $$$$ rolling up to mustangs and camaros thinking he can take them.
But I'll make you a promise and say that if i'm ever out toward union town and i see a show ill stop by and flaunt my $$$$ haha.

Wow, I just followed those instructions... I guess not every show at Carlisle is as nice as the All Ford Nats... some of those cars are just sad.
Also I respect a fast import any day of the week. I even respect a slow one that looks nice and is done tastefully.
I have a Scion tC as a daily driver, I've lowered it on Hotchkis springs, Tokico struts, retrofitted S2k headlights, K&N Intake, Megan Exhaust, and a short shifter...that's the extent of what the car will ever have done to it because it's slow. If it were a WRX I would go further but since I realize when something has potential and when something does not... I am finished with it lol. I joined scionlife.com so I could search for solutions to some minor problems I ran into and upon browsing threads like "The Sticker Thread" (show your sweet stickers that you put in a column diagonally down the side of your windshield, or your front lip covered in FatLace stickers) and "Show Me your Wings" etc... I quickly realized I was in a different part of the car hobby world to which I do not belong. I go there when I need to know what an error code means or something, but other than that I'll pass.

Then why is Toyota barely behind GM and Ford in US auto sales?
I wish people were more patriotic and supported the country they live in and their relatives have died for, but sadly, the auto sales numbers don't agree.
Regarding the imports at car shows: I don't mind seeing them. The only cars at shows that don't belong are cars less than 20 yrs old and are stone stock. Exceptions to this rule would be exotics and higher-end modern muscle...ZR1, Viper. That's just personal preference anyway.

Domestic, import, 4 bangers, V8s etc. Doesn't matter what powers the car, or where the manufacturer is originally from, I think we all can agree on one thing. Fast cars are nice, that's why we all sink so d@mn much money into these things.

Amen brother.
I think a CLEAN, FAST import is just as cool as a CLEAN FAST mustang, camaro, and whatever else. I bought my DSM because I couldn't find a fox body that wasn't owned by some retard that thought it was worth its weight in gold with 145k on the clock, bone stock, with leaking headgaskets, for under a grand. Most of them wanted over 1k for a rolling chassis. I found my car for 500 bucks, not anywhere near complete, but it had a good block, head, body, and transmission.
If i said it once I have said it a million times. I don't really care what it is, as long as it looks good and has decent power.

I almost bought a super nice fox for 7k, but decided to just get a new gt for the warranty (that lasted a whole month :bounce:). I think the next car I get will be a fox though, they are hard to beat for performance/price. DSMs are hard to beat performance/price wise too, but then I couldn't make fun of them.

We just had our show at the masontown vfd this past sunday, we didn't have an import class but we had a class for new cars, 1996 up. I think we had a good variety of vehicles for everyone to look at no matter what their taste.
I know what you're saying not so much the import part but showing a newer car. When I started showing my T-Bird I had a hard time finding a show I could enter it in, there for a while I had to enter the open class where anything goes. And even then I had to put up with people walking by say that new car doesn't belong. Some of the perjudice does still exist. Our dash plaques had my T-Bird on it and my sister's pink Mustang with one of the fire trucks in the background. Well some guy had to voice his opinion to my daughter about how we needed to pick better cars for our dash plaques because no one wants to look at a new piece of junk and a pink car. Ashley had a nice come back but that just takes some nerve! Plus how old does my car have to be to not be considered as a new car? I mean come on, it's 22 years old!! I've had classic plates on it for 7 years now! But that's why I wanted to have a class for the newer cars. And you know, it's kinda dunb to stop anyone from showing thier cars, most shows are fund raisers.

me n the few from the group who showes up sunday had a blast at the masontown vfd car show and it was actually nice having a class for newer cars but as i looked at the flyers for the other shows no one wants the new stuff around lol like why man lol we are gear heads for a reason we love our cars no matter what they are n yes donny we do sink a retarded amount of money on them well at least those who car about what their cars look like lol but im just tryin to say it would be so nice to get new cars and faces to these shows cause im tired of seeing the same freaking cars n ppl ya know u can only look at their cars so much till u get tired of it but like i said b4 the old heads dont want imports there and its probably because they have no idea what they are looking at which is understandable it does get quite confusing .... my opinion on it is that these shows need new ppl new cars to spice things up and deffinatly give us kids some thing to look forward to or maybe get some trophies to make us feel better about what we are doing. Now like my dad has so many trophies for my grandfathers cars. we own a 1978 chrysler new yorker the only one out the factory with a baby blue interior, 1966 dodge polara station wagon which came in 1st at mopar nationals last year for show quality n got best in show the year before n the 66' is the only FULLY original left in the world there is 1 other but its been fully restored.. We also have a 76' Cj5 that me and him fully restored amd i have my 94' Jeep grand cherokee so i have my american domestic ties just trying to look out for younger ppl like myself ya know:pop2:

sorry man lemme explain what i mean. the people at car shows. that take time and do there cars atleast at norwin hills where i generally go are over the age of forty and were around during stuff that happened and have worked to get what they have now. not some kid that can go buy a five hundred dollar car.. throw some bondo on it and a cai with the biggest folgers coffee can welded to the back of it. now do not get me wrong when i say this. but if a car looks good it looks good. but me cwh19 and 2001gttt were talking about this the other night. after all the civics i have seen in my area and i see all the time. any civic from the late 80's to the early 2000's cannot by no means look good. i dont care if they just spent 20k on a paint job 5k on rims and puts down over 700hp. i simpy wont care. now on a different note about the sales too. next time you drive down the road look and see how many college girls and rich kids are driving a beautiful new car. i didnt get that. lol i paid by MYSELF for my vic. and for that simple reason i will never stop loving that car. and i know too that my parents wont drop five grand if the paint is cheap and decides to fade. or if my throttle decides to stick to the ground and refuse to let up and i die in a fiery fire of a firing crash with fire trucks. i am just saying that in the end i love all cars. but $$$$ some people just do dumbshit to em. to each there own. but can we just all agree the average honda civic with the fart can, primered black, cut springs and the springs heated up so they are stiff and the car rides like an F1 car, with the 50 hp gaining axle back exhaust and the advance auto bought underglo, i mean come on man.

But you have to look at something at other than civics. Yes most are not worth their weight in trash, but look at what else is out there. You have evos, rx-7s and rx-8s :), STIs, GTIs, supras, celicas, GSRs, etc. etc. The point is you have to look at all imports if your going to pass judgement about them. Not just base a dislike of a certain brand of very molested cars.
