Rockford fosgate makes good subs. Kicker's are good too but they can get expensive. Kenwood amps are probably the best for basic car stereo stuff. Speakers are kindof hit and miss and it really depends on what you want. If you want alot of highs and not to much mid and low, Sony's are good. If you want more equal mids and highs, infinity and kenwood are good. I don't like pioneer anything really so I'd stay away from that. They tend to crap out.

In my Subaru Justy waayyy back in the day I had a Kenwood flipface head unit, Rockford Fosgate subs and speakers, and a Kicker amp. All were great audio gear at the time, um not really up to date on whats up as of lately thou.

What is your budget, once we know that we can give you a better idea. I always liked the pioneer premier coaxial speakers myself, even if you are not putting an amp on them, an aftermarket headunit will usually supply enough to satisfy most people's needs, but if you really want to crank it up you should amp them. Do you just want replacement speakers or are you looking at a subwoofer setup as well?

a good pioneer head unit is about 225 man dont get any speakers that are dual sony or cheap pioneer the way to go with that is infinity and subs trust me and go alpine type R one 12 and they make an 800 peak watt amp for it that bumps well.. dude when you go to do this hit me up i can have it all in in about an hour.. and i am not exxagerating about that. $$$$ if you want buy a piece of particle board and some nails and caulking and screws and i will build ya a box and if you got carpet for ya i can do that for ya for free man.. just tell me how you want it and i can do it for ya.

also too stock speakers with a new headunit can make a world of difference.. the problem usually is the speakers are like 100 peak 50 watt rms/ speaker but the amp is only 25 watts/channel and when you push the stock headunit it clips the amp making the speakers sound not so well and makes it seem like the speakers need changed when really if you had a headunit with a better internal amp it will sound crisp.. plus too if you get a good headunit that drops anything below 80 HZ and you have a sub pounded out 79 HZ and down it sounds like a rock concert i promise. so 225 for a head unit and even a rockford 12 inch sub with an 800 watt amp could be around 300 bucks and i will build a cab for ya man so you would be looking around 550 for a total setup man. to find speakers that are better than stock speakers cost about 150 a pair. so thats like an extra 300. just thought i would give ya a good look at a budget man.

I had an Alpine headunit and amp wit a JL audio 10inch sub and infinity 3 way 6x 9's in a chevy truck and it sounded great. I wasnt gonna win any bass competitions but i always got compliments on the sound ..............but never was real big into the stereo scene

If you want a great sub at a decent price, look into Boston Acoustics G5. I have a G5 10" in my dd and it hits really hard for only a 10 with a 1000w kenwood amp on it. Hits just as hard as my two JL 12W3v2's in my cobra.

Sub ran me about $200

Also, I recommend the Alpine head units. I've had 1 in a previous car and I have one in the cobra and I have never had an issue. Plus they have a tasteful look unlike some of the gaudy ones you see.

Memphis component speakers are really nice too, that's what I replaced all the Mach 460 junk with.
