Within the next 3 weeks, we'll be moving UGH from its single server instance on a development server to our production server pool. After the move it will be on a distributed file system (glusterFS) across 6 boxes and the database will be on the new MySQL 5.X - cluster V7. This will spread the load across 6 webservers and 7 database servers through 2 load balancers, a dedicated firewall and some other things.
We hope that the move will be less than an hour, but as many as you know, stuff happens. I'll make sure to make a full backup before the move, and ill update this thread the day of the move.
Thanks

I understood 3 whole words in that sentence dude! Makes me feel smart!
Seriously, hope it goes without a problem for you. I was on another forum that was supposed to take a day to change some things. A year later and they are still having problems.
Good Luck Buddy!

Yes, and the tires would never wear out :)

There isn't any change to the software, I imagine they tried upgrading to a newer version. This is just cloning the software across a bunch of servers so that if one dies, you wouldn't notice.

The worst that could happen would be that we go back to the dev box, and try again later.... or the earth explodes - 50/50 chance...

Bah, unless the move happens on 12-21-12 I don't think you are going to be responsible for the end of the Earth....
Yet.
We're moving the database server to the cluster today. There may be a few minutes of downtime.
Later this week (maybe weekend) we'll move the webserver over.
We're back up, the database is now clustered. We just have to put vbulletin on the webservers now.

We're moving the web services to the H/A cluster now - a few minutes of downtime may follow.
We'll post when we're up and running again.
(ps: I finally created an account, Tim....)

cool man, glad to see it
The servers are upgraded for now. We are going to end up making to clusters later, but that won't affect UGH.
