There is an auto-cross with 8 events in it at north park. it has for in the spring and 4 in the fall. I did one of them last year and it was 25 bucks and we had 5 runs, lasted the whole day. cars running from 10 - 4. then a dollar a run after the event is over. Lots of fun.

Hey, I'm Dan with the blue GTO mentioned above. This season will be my 4th year doing North Park autocross and Steel Cities Region SCCA Autocross events at BeaveRun and Console Energy Park. Every so often I go to some events up at State College and Cumberland too, and now Wyotech just started having events last year too.

I missed a bunch of the NHSCC events last summer due to traveling to Japan a lot for work, but I hope to make nearly every event this year.

Terry is the current President of NHSCC and he's a great guy. He has a yellow C4 vette that he runs in B-Prepared (BP) class. He will always answer a question, and if he's too busy to answer, he will come find you later in the day. The other yellow vette is my buddy Brian with a C5 Z06 that he runs in Super Stock (SS) class.

I run my GTO in Street Touring Ultimate (STU).

There's a Driver's School at North Park tentatively scheduled for April 10th. I will be there volunteering as an instructor of some sort.

Please let me know if you have any questions. I'm always willing to try to help get new people into the sport!

Edit: What kind of car do you have and where are you from, if you don't mind me asking? There's 3 of us from the Uniontown area that usually drive up the turnpike together to the events.

hey bro thanks for all the info, we'll definitely have to run some events! My name is Tony. I run a 2002 mustang gt. i was in BP last time, but since then i had to replace the rear end so i probably got knocked down in class. I dont have slicks for the track either so im running street tires, semi racing, ish. Im in school at calu and i live down in oakmont. Let me know about all the events and i'll surely be there.

Yeah, BP is a mod-friendly class, so you may not bump to a different class. I would have to check the rulebook. I run street tires too, but they're probably the best autocross street tires out there, Bridgestone RE-11's...they aren't cheap :( lol

With the cam, I'm pretty sure C-Prepared (CP) for North Hills. No one else locally runs in that class, so you would automatically win or get bumped into a different class. I'll check the rulebook tonight. At Steel Cities events you could just register in the novice class.

It took me several events to be anywhere near competitive with the other drivers anyway since it really is a whole different way of driving the car, compared to street driving, road racing, or drag racing. So when starting out, it's not worth worrying about winning but rather focusing on improving your times and learning the car.

And honestly, you could co-drive my car if you want Drew if you don't want any cone marks on the Camaro.

Sounds good, I know your car would be better than mine. Mine would just be a loud smoke show lol.

I live literally 1 minute away from this (I can hear the cars running from my backyward). I'm always tempted to try it, but don't really have anything worth running in my opinion. Maybe I'll head over and spectate for a bit next year.

You can literally show up in just about any type of car and as long as it's PA state inspected and passes tech inspection on site, you can run it. We get anything and everything - Vettes, Evo's, Sti's, 350z's, 1, 3, and 5-Series BMW's, F-bodies, Mustangs of all generations, WRX's, GTO's, Porsches, CRX's, Civics, Supercharged Miata's, Legacy GT's, rental cars, Cobalt SS's, Talons, 3000GT, Rabbits, GTI's, the list goes on.

Front wheel drive, all wheel drive, rear wheel drive - doesn't matter. All season tires, 140 treadwear ultra performance summer only tires, Hoosier A6 R-comps - doesn't matter.

Stop on out and come watch, although I will admit it's much more exciting when you're behind the wheel :)

Check out autoxphotos.com too, if you want to get an idea of the wide variety of cars that show up to events.

Oh, and don't knock the CRX's, Civics, and Integras...they're usually some of the fastest cars out there. A momentum car can be just as good as or even better than a high horsepower car when it comes to autocross.

I do a few of these a year, pretty decent on the driver part just don't have a competitive car. I'd love to co-drive a car worth racing, but to anyone that hasn't done it, its a blast.

That's an awesome picture.

I'll probably give this a try in my '05 GT next spring.
