what are some specs I should look for when purchasing a new oil pan? how many qts, front vs rear sump, etc

Rear sump, no crank scraper (a crank scraper will not fit with a main girdle).
If you can run a deep sump you shouldn't have clearance problems with the clutch fork/bell housing guide hole, they hang lower than a stock pan does though. I believe Moroso makes a regular 7 quart deep sump for 94-95 that will work fine.

1 or 2 piece rear main seal?

I'm pretty sure it's a one piece rear main seal on these motors. I think the 2 piece rear main seals were on older blocks... someone correct me if I'm wrong.

I have a canton pan on mine and it fits and works well it seems.

mike you dont even need an oil pan. you need a gypsy tear pan.

I'll be running tank of unicorn blood, n a bottle of gypsy tears eventually, as far as the pope piss, Colton is gonna need that by the barrel full if hes gonna beat me, hahaha
