View Full Version : New FLD Pink Slip Format and Rules - Tell us what you think

The new format was an experiment that the FLD owners were initially concerned about implementing. Fortunately, they agreed to give it a try. If you don't like the new format blame me not them. If you like it then be sure to thank them for giving the new format a shot. I wanted to start a poll to get a consensus as well as ask that you post constructive criticism/suggestions in this thread.

There are two routes the drivers can choose (and you can choose one or both):
1. With the new format everyone can still run in the Flashlights they way it has always been run. Pick someone to race and race. If you don't have someone to race go into the singles lane and a race will be arranged for you. Have fun!

2. If you think you are a contender for a top slot in your class you now have an option to do your own "eliminations" all day long. There is no more "picking" of the cars by us. The drivers are in control. We just "moderate" any disputes (there was one on Sunday) and at the end call the pink slip holders.

Here are the initial rules for the "pink slip" route should a driver choose to go this direction:
1. Anyone with a "pink slip" will need to display it on their car, park in the designated area and be available to race.
2. If repeatedly called out you have the option to wait between runs to cool or make adjustments but we will need to put a time limit on this (i.e. 15 - 20 min),
3. Only one "pink slip" per car and that pink slip has to be for the class your car will be running in.
4. If individuals who both have pink slips want to race before the finals it will not involve the exchange of pink slips. They will both retain their slips regardless of the winner.
5. If you are called out you must race.
6. The intent is for this to be self managing and the only time the staff needs to get involved is if someone doesn't respond to a call out.
7. If the race is too close to call for the drivers, they can stop at the announcers booth and we can tell them who got the light.
8. At a designated time the "pink slip" holders (who may or may not be the fastest in each class) will run the finals.
9. If you are a pink slip holder and leave the event early you need to give the slip to any other car in your class.
10. You are only obligated to race and beat a car once. If the same driver/car challenges a pink slip holder a second time it is up to the pink slip holder to choose to race again or decline.
11. The fast AWD cars must run in the "Big Dog" or "Top Street" class.

Initially we expect that the slips will be changing hands quickly with the top one or two cars in each class being identified. Working out the remaining "pink slip" holders should be fun/interesting.

I wish I could vote both yes and no. I think its a cool idea and it although I didn't take the pink slip route it seemed to work out really well and resulted in very competitive classes. The only reason I would vote no is because now I have to spend money to make my car fast enough to take someones slip.

What are you talking about?

And don't get mad at "them" (the FLD owners) get mad at me, I have been trying to be informative as well as gather opinions/input and then use that information to try to influence "them" based on that data. "They" have been very cooperative but are under no obligation to do anything a lowly FLD sponsor like me has to say.

The good thing is that they do listen and are willing to try something new. The last poll was all my doing so if you feel slighted or are upset, take it out on me not them.

The same goes with this poll, I will report the results to "them" and they have the final say as to how the event goes down.

I wasn't able to race on the 28th but I thought it was pretty kool when you heard people calling pink slip holders out . I also liked how the pink slip holders were parked out front on the return road so everyone could see who was running well and when they pulled out you knew they got challenged.

I don't know about that Dennis. I think your car is fast.
I bet your decision to go after a pink slip would change if just a few of the cars that did show on Sunday for the Top Street class would have stayed home.

My question is if you run in the pink slip class and lose your slip, can you still race afterwards for fun or are you done completely?

No, you are not done at all.

If you lose your slip you can either:

1) Challenge someone else who is still holding a slip!

2) Race whoever you want for fun just like always....

Don't think of the pink slip option as a "class" (because it isn't).

It's just another option (within the normal format) for the folks that think they have a shot at the top 8 in their respective class (Big Dog, Top Street, Top Tuner).
It also removes the requirement of having to "pick" the top 8 cars in each class for the finals and the complaints of folks (which may be justifiable - we're not perfect) who think that they should have been picked.

My car is quick, but I have nothing for the GTX, Mikes Z, or even that nasty black Z06. I will prob try it out next time I am at Waynesburg though to see how I do.

What kind of times are these different classes running?
Never been to one of these events and don't know much about them or the classes.
As far as pinks....whats to stop a 10 sec car from challenging a 13 sec car???

Jmac64ss
08-29-2011, 04:35 PM
The way it is now. Just pick someone in one out of the classes you want to run and call them out. It can be a big dog or just someone in there new battery powered hot wheels. If you want a shoot at running the finals, then you race someone in the class you want to run in for there pink slip. You win it's yours. Remember someone can call you out and they may take it from you if they win. If you don't care who you race then line up and they will get you a race. If you never have bin to one. Try one out. You'll have a good time just watching them to. You never know who will win at times. The 10.0 sec car or the 12.0 car. It who can hook up and get to the line first.

i liked the new format. although i dnt have a fast enough car to go after a slip. i know everone has there opinion. the only problem i see with the top street is that class should have no trailered in cars. i have no prob with the trailered cars but if you want to go for top street shouldnt you have to drive your car in? im not sure if any of the cars in top street were on trailers or not but from the looks of it i doubt some of them drove them there.

We really need to drop the trailer issue. When I raced my VR6 Jetta at the Flashlights years ago, although it was my daily driver, year round (over 100 miles a day) I still trailed it to any event further than Zelienople. I just didn't want to risk it breaking and having to find a way home. The fact that it came on a trailer had nothing to do with it being a race or street car. If I'm going to travel 2 hours to an event (like Waynesburg) my car is coming on a trailer.

Keep in mind the intent of the "Top Street" class is to class the fast cars that don't make/fit the "Big Dog" or "Top Tuner" classes. At some events this has been cars like Dennis (slow06gto) and at the last event cars that were a little bit faster were there. It will depend on what cars show and nothing else (other than not fitting the "Big Dog" or "Top Tuner" classes).

Not this again....The rules don't say no trailers. It said must be driven in. Not driven there.

If you think they are race cars because they are trailer, then ask them to do something with there car that you can do with yours. Drive down the road, hot lap, go backwards. It's is getting old. I know my buddy was questioned about his car before by someone. He parked the car next to him, left it running and left for an hour to get something to eat as the car was still running. The guy didn't really care for that, so he asked if he would like him to follow him home or drop him off at his home. Needless to say, this non-trailer guys car could not do any of the above and it was a "street car".

Read the rules and not in-between them.

All of the cars you mentioned look like big dog cars. I beleave they wanted to be also.

Don't really care about trailers....

If ya want my opinion (and I'm sure no one does)....

Big Tire Car = Big Dog
Small Tire Car = Top Street
FWD Import = Tuner

Simple! Easy to follow!

The only category that really doesn't fit is the High HP AWD cars.
They were thrown into the Big Dogs last weekend....
I guess that's the best place for them without creating a class just for AWD's.

Agree 1000%. The rules were put together by a group of people that were trying to make it as fair as possible. With that being said, I agree the trailer rule should be eliminated, it does nothing to keep things fair. Instead, they should actually inspect all the vehicles a lot more than they actually do and kick the failed cars out.

To be honest I didn't go to the one on the 28th and planned on not really ever going back do to the steep price and the lack of following any of the rules they have set forth...But!, after reading about the pink slips it really seems like it would be fun. I think it's a fantastic idea and if they stick with it and start following their own rules I think it would be a blast. Just my $.02

If you park it off the property then you are following the Rules. What's the difference with the guy that lives down to road that drove his car there and it brakes. He go's home gets his trailer and takes the car home. I'm not driving home for and 1 1/2 hours and 1 1/2 hours back and then do it all over again just to get the car home. This is racing. Things break. The trailer is there for that reason. I have friends that are state cops. I'm sure I can get one of there buddies to maybe volunteer his time to do the vehicle checks. That way everything will be street cars and if you don't pass then you can be a big dog. And I'm sure he will not be writing tickets.

This idea has potential. I do ultimately think we may have to go with an AWD class, not because they are cleaning house but more to protect the import/top tuners.

Some of the AWD guys think that they should be allowed to dominate all three classes (and they could). We thought by trying to direct the AWD cars into the Top Street and Big Dogs that would be a fix (we did allow the slower awd's to compete in Top Tuner). Unfortunately there's always someone who complains.

Like Cheeks said - what will be the cutoff for tire size? Or should it be tire size vs weight of the car? Or tire size and stock suspension vs ladder bar or 4 link. Then who will be in charge of measuring the tires? Will the measurement be tread width, sectional width or contact surface?

I'm just trying to think through what the next complaints will be if we go this route....

On another note concerning what cars run in what class.... This has always been a factor of the cars that showed up. For example, the last time Quik and I raced we were both in the "Big Dog" class at Beaver Run. And at least one other event Quik was in the "Big Dogs" with other cars that might not have even made the last "Top Street" finals at Waynesburg. I agree if the turnout continues to be high we may need to implement some "simple" deciding factor to differentiate between big dog and top street as well as have an AWD class.

The idea is to make this as self managing as possible with the drivers in control.

Tire size seems to be a "simple" item to use.

In response to the justifiable concerns/complaints by members here about cars using trailers to attend the events, the "no trailers" rule is being removed.

The web admin has been requested to remove the "no trailer" rule from the flashlightdrags.com "Rules" page.

Hopefully this will put and end to this issue.

Thanks for all of the input (including those who were correct in stating what the rules said) and remember that your opinions are heard. Also remember that it is difficult to please everyone.

Alright let me get this straight

First the awd cars can't run in the tuner class even tho it's an import ok I understand that but now your talking about making a class just awd so I'd have to pay 25 bucks and race what 3 or 4 other cars?? Lol that's lame

Listen no offense but I didn't bring a 14 second car down and win the big dog class I brought a highly modified street driven 9 second talon. The fact that black camaro has stickers for headlights makes this case in point if you can't keep up with me off the line or even after you gain traction in most cases you just need to rethink your strategy and not try to eliminate me from racing.

That's just how I feel thanks for your time.

Hey, I'm with you on this one.
Just try to help us deal with the awd guys who are arguing that they should be able to run in all three classes AT THE SAME TIME! They are claiming that they should be able to run Top Tuner, Top Street and Big Dog.

We can't have that.

We tried something different last Sunday and I thought it worked out great.
We asked the fast AWD cars to run top street or big dog and you did. And you belonged in Big Dog and ran there without issue. We even let the slower awd cars run top tuner and that worked out fine.

How about you organizing the AWD guys and come up with a strategy.
If we forced you to run top tuner you would still be limited in the cars you could run.

I thought last Sunday's format was good but a bunch of other AWD guys are having issues.

Do you have any suggestions?

I completely agree! Why is it everytime a awd does good is there people complaining about it?! On another post I was ridiculed when I said that we would bring a 122ci single Turbo street car and beat "drag cars"? Now When we do bring 1 down and follow the rules of the big dog class the awd gets singled out and there's talk of a special class for a handful of cars! Are people scared of competition?!!! I say run what you bring if you enter the big dog class expect a fast car! Don't make the flashlight drags lame I enjoy them but its starting to lose its luster over all the whining !

YES!!! Its time to go shopping now.

I think how you had it was a good setup. My buddy ran his in the top street and lost to a rwd viper he was a great fit for street. I mean if an awd car is a good fit for the tuner class then let them run. I agree I wouldn't want to race anything but big dog that's why I brought my car. This needs to be subjective if the shoe fits wear it lol.

I don't think you read this whole thread or you would realize the whinning is about the trailers and NOT the AWD cars. Please don't turn this into something it is not.

The AWD guys are doing the whining, just not on here. And Kevin is not one of the whiners (alhough I think he's reading something into this thread as well). I did say (due to the "other" awd guys complaining) that we may need to make an awd class to "protect" the top tuner class. We do not need to protect the "big dog" class. In my opinion the "big dogs" should ALWAYS be the fastest cars that show, rwd, fwd or awd.

I do like Mike's (Quikz) idea the top tuner should be fwd cars only - that would solve this issue.

I agree 100% - now just talk to the other whining awd guys and get them to have the "if the shoe fits" attitude so we can keep this event fun for everyone!

I can def see what your getting into with the tuner class it's kinda a sticky situation. A tuner car can span so many wide arrays. In most aspects my car is a tuner car but its def not suited for the tuner class. The tuner class being fwd would limit a bunch of the rwd imports and slower awd cars from running but at the same time those cars may have the nuts to run street. This may end up being a judgement call the day of the race. For example if your letting a turbo 350z run tuner and a civic run tuner.... The civic loses to a awd but the 350z beats the awd then I feel that awd is a good fit for tuner. Cause all it takes is 1 mistake on a launch and that civic is smoking that awd talon lol.

Hopefully this is a rational insight to the problem.

Umm you posted this which is what I'm referring to?! So I'm sorry if I'm off topic here but after hearing others complaining it's just very upsetting please don't think I'm taking this out on you

How about we keep it the way we ran it Sunday - I liked how it worked. The awd guys run like you did - really fast=big dog, fast=top street and near stock=top tuner

If we have an issue with any car (awd, fwd or rwd) that probably should be going after a pink in a faster class just ask him or her to consider changing classes.

Too many rules can make this a mess.

Like you said Mike, it's a judgement call by you guys and the cars actually speed really changes on the setup for that day. When I ran at the FLD's I had 40lbs of air in the tires and turned down my timing as to keep the car as safe as I can. I don't want to blow anything up just goofing around at the FLD's. I promise that these AWD guys that are complaining, will cry like infants if we ever get forced in a class together, as they will have no chance vs some of the AWD's that will be there to own them.

And thank you guys for removing that trailer rule, finally puts an end to that crap.

I thought FLD's principal was always run what you brung?

Why make mountains out of mole-hills.....let the awd car pick whatever class he wants to run in (big dog or tuner). AWD tuner cars are TUNERS...if they want to run big dogs...let them...if they want to run tuner class...let them....

Street class?.....I'd say no....why? Becuase they already have their own class...called TUNER class.

I was with you until the street class comment. I think it should be a judgement call based on the cars speed at the FLD's. I pride my car on being a "street car", I can turn on the ice cold ac, and have the 7" lcd flip out and watch a movie. This way no one can $$$$$ about not getting picked.

Sorry I know I'm late on this convo but just wanted to express how much I liked the idea. Plus I got there late so I had to earn a pink. Then I lost it right before eliminations started so I had to rush around and find a quick race to get another one. I had just as much fun trying to get a pink slip and defending it than I did in eliminations.

I'm not sure if I should take that as a compliment? I'm not trying to redeem myself. I'm just trying to give as much information as I can, get some feedback and make this event as fun (and competitive) for as many as possible. I do realize that it is almost impossible to satisfy everyone.

I also want folks to realize there is a ton of stuff going on in the background that you may or may not see. From arriving at the event 2-3 hours before it starts to set up to the tear down long after everyone has left, the meetings during the week and sometimes the most trying... the conversations and/or concerns from not only the participants but also spectators, friends of racers, track or airport officials, sponsors, emails throughout the week etc. etc. Then of course we have issues like what just happened with Quaker City.

Let's see how the next event plays out. I still think Sunday went well.
The AWD thing could easily become an issue if an individual shows up (other than the folks this past Sunday) and isn't willing to cooperate like the AWD folks did at the last event. If not, we will need to come up with a plan to protect the Top Tuner class.

Please keep in mind that the new "Top Street" class was implemented to give the folks (import or domestic) that were not fast enough for the "Big Dogs" a place to compete. Participants in this class will vary based on the cars that show.

The Top Tuners is designed to give the younger generation of racers with their stock or mildly modified cars a place to get their feet wet. We would like to see this class grow rather than be "snuffed out".

The Big Dogs is the "Run what ya brung" class with no excuses/limitations.

I was referring to the fact that you looked as if you wanted to push the AWD's in their own class. But you did change what you were saying about it or maybe just didn't go far enough with your fist post into this subject. That's why I said you redeemed yourself.

I think there may be some confusion as to what the classes actually mean. I know I don't understand what each class is "exactly." Here's a quick breakdown of what I think they are;

Big Dog - Could not pass an inspection
Top Street - High performing street cars with real street tires
Top Tuner - V6 or below powered vehicles

I didnt see this mentioned yet but I am guessing it was already discussed.....

Any plans for a timing system at waynesburg? The ones at some of the autocross events I have seen seem pretty simple. Maybe some think this takes away from the purpose of the flashlight drags but I think it would be a good addition. Then you could categorize the classes by trap speed. This might make things to complicated but just putting it out there as a thought.

I didn't understand the classes clearly. I never felt like a TopDog although thats where I've been put. Street cars have often beat me ( even on Sunday ). Its 2 whl drive, street legal, domestic power, import car- The fun is the race, not the Trophy . I think there may always be some uf us oddballs w/o a clear class !

Big Dog - Could not pass an inspection
Top Street - High performing street cars with real street tires
Top Tuner - V6 or below powered vehicles

All cars must be street legal and inspected if required by state law (i.e. not req for - Antique, classic plate, out of state cars).

All cars must have DOT approved tires.

Big Dog - Fastest 8 cars at the event (domestic or import), no other requirement other than the FLD rules. This will vary depending on the cars that show. Quik and myself have both run this class as well as Top Street.

Top Street - New class designed by Turk and myself to give cars (domestic or import) that are competitive but not fast enough for the Big Dogs a place to compete.

Top Tuner - A place for the "new" racing crowd to get started. The cars in this class will also vary based on who shows up. We won't let a V8 powered Honda race in this class. This is intended to get the young guys and their fwd cars a format to compete in. But there are also rwd and awd "tuners" that fit well in this class and keep the racing fun.

That's my best explanation of the intent keeping in mind that the cars that show up are what really will reflect who/what is in a class.

ostmike
08-31-2011, 10:26 AM
I was referring to the fact that you looked as if you wanted to push the AWD's in their own class.

Remember we are trying to have fun and have three classes for a reason - to provide a format that draws people to the event and allows those who can or want to compete a level playing field.

Otherwise we would have just one class - "Big Dog".

For example, if three or more 9 second AWD cars show up and all compete in the "Big Dog" class there will be no issues.

If those same 3 or more cars which should be running "Big Dog" decide to try to dominate all 3 classes I suspect an AWD class will be created.

Did I just "un-redeem" myself ? :)

I think Sunday was the best yet. Drivers got to pick there class from the list provided and run it. You can run anyone you want. I think all the drivers are smart enough to know if you have a 9.0 second big dog car not to take a 12.0 second cars slip in the street class. Everyone knows what there car runs like. This week it maybe a street class and next time with some updates you made it a big dog. Let keep it fun and simple.

No timing systems, just a win lose light. We did try using a radar gun at one event but that day the top 20 cars we deemed fit the "Top Street" class were within 6mph of each other. Try picking the top 8 out of that many cars running so close together.

I'm diggin' the pink slip action, ease of management and the way all of the racers were respectful in turning over slips when loosing. The top 8 may not always be the fastest cars there but they will be the folks racing and winning!

Thanks for the breakdown :), never knew exactly what was what.

I would have to call BS on the statement above though. I've done both PA and WV inspections in my former profession and most of the cars in the Big Dogs would never ever pass an inspection in either state. Between exhaust, lights and windshield wipers you'd lose half that class. If you add in tires it would be more like 3/4 of them. I know at the tracks they let us run "street slicks" as legal but they most certianlly will not pass an inspection.

Here's a copy of PA inspection laws for anyone that wants to look it over, it's very extensive and there is no room for wiggle.

PS. I know it's hard to tell how someone is coming off in a text format like this so I'll be clear. I'm not coming down on you in any way I'm just saying that this doesn't happen at all. Not even saying that I care, just stating a fact. And before some of you chime in and tell me how you have a valid inspection sticker, don't bother. If I called the state and gave them your license plate number you would lose your inspection and the shop would have their inspection license revoked... I've been seeing this more and more lately for some reason, even the cops have been checking for things like rust and reporting it and the shops are losing their licenses.

If you don't like the way things are, let them know. I'm sure they will try to do what they can to make everyone happy. If they don't change it then you have a choice. Stay home or go and have fun. This is getting old. Everytime they make a change there are 100 other problems that come up. My theory is, I have a 232hp car ( ask Tim ) I want to make it go faster to beat the camaro, tim's car ect. This takes money and time. Oneday I might do it and I will have someone do the same to me and it will start all over trying to beat him or her again. There is always going to be someone faster then you. I don't care who bears me, at least I'm able to have a car and enjoy every minute in it. The point is, let have some fun and enjoy that someone is giving us a place to play. God knows, there going away fast. Just look at the events the closed up already. Let's try to keep what we got.

This is not a poke at anyone. I just don't want to see them close it all down.

Next thing you will be saying is that we should only race to 55 or 65mph since that is the max speed limit in Pa.

Should we set up a Pa. state inspection station at the event?
How about an emissions center?
We could also hire an instant notary to validate licenses and registration haven't been revoked.
We could also require all the insurance companies that sell insurance in Pa. have a rep at the event to verify insurance has been paid in full.

Where would it end?

Just come and have fun......

Oh for $hit sakes....

You've already stated that you have no plans to come to these events to either watch or race, so.....

Why do you care what they do?

Why are you in this thread?

Why are you on this forum?

Why do you even exist?

Here's a couple of helpful suggestion: STFU and GTFO.....

You're a d-bag so I'll take that with a grain of salt.... If you could read, which I'm guessing it's not your strong point, you'd have seen that I said I like the new "pink slip" idea and said I would run again. It's funny how when people say anything even remotely negative some of you ladies get all twisted up.

You're welcome

I've only been to 1 event but plan on going again and that's not what I saw at all.

Should you have someone looking over the cars that is certified in state inspections, yes. We are paying a lot of cash to go to these events and expect the rules to be followed. If you can't enforce them, then change them as you said you're doing with the trailers.

Like I said in my post, I don't care if they're street legal, but if that's the rules that people pay for then enforce them... The "big dog" class is "run what you brung" then get rid of the rules for that class.

But thanks for being a smart-$$$ for me bringing something up that I hear a lot of people complaining about.

Here's a copy of PA inspection laws for anyone that wants to look it over, it's very extensive and there is no room for wiggle.

http://www.dmv.state.pa.us/pdotforms/pub_45/section_e.pdf

I'm sure a lot would but that wasn't my point. People keep complaining about this crap and anytime someone actually says something trying to let people know then they get flamed. There are like what, 10 guys on here that go to the FLD's? Most guys just complain to each other and then just say they won't go back.... So when someone brings something up to be helpful and just gets a load of s*** it just blows my mind.

But hey, that just how things like this just disappear.

Well, just being Devil's advocate here....

Does your 600whp DSM have a catalytic convertor?

Call me crazy, but I am going to go out on a limb and say no, inspection fail, you just drove 30 miles and are not allowed to race.

If it was that strict there would be about 4 cavaliers, a neon, and my slow as hell Mustang racing. I am no expert, but I don't think that is going to...

a. Make money.

b. be fun.

c. have more than 3 idiots with nothing better to do than watch 6 slow as balls cars "race".

If you seriously expect them to have someone there "inspecting" cars further than looking at your license, insurance, inspection, and registration, your crazy.

Here's the deal. Get rid of all the rules. Run what you brung. That way, that way the fastest car will win. No bitching about classes, tires or anything else.

Oh wait, then someone can complain there are no rules.

It's simple. If you want to race, show up. If not, stay home.

We have a good thing going having a place to run on street like conditions and not have the chance of going to jail.

Ostmike, good luck with all this. Makes you start to think, is it really worth your time you give to make this happen. No matter what the FLD crew decides, I will still show up as long as there is a race.

I didn't make it out to the last Waynesburg event, not sayin um for or against the pink slip deal! Buuut still their is absolutely no class for myself! Yeah its just ssoooo simple, make ur car faster, well now um on a very tight financial budget bein lay'd off n can afford to drop 2,000 to 5,000 dollars on power adders or build my engine up! So really where does this leave racers like myself!??
Bottom line is that the mid to high-12 sec cars to like the 13-14 second range are out of the the class competition! These are pretty normal times where ALOT of the REAL street rides run!! I mean I've try'd goin at least 1 round in Top Street before and well I pretty much never had a chance! Might as well put me in the Top Tuner class then!! I mean I alwayz race their to just have fun and alwayz had a blast n luv'd the FLD's regardless of puttin on a show racin in the classes!
But like at BeaverRun I talk't ta u Mike n u said that Tom 10Kona6er couldn't run with the Tuner Class to make the even 6 car count, why again?! His car runs 15's!

The only way I can see a 12 second class is to create one for stock cars. Times have changed. 10 years ago a 12 second true street car was pretty fast. Now brand new N/A mustangs runs 12's straight out of the box.
Hell I am a 100% true street car that runs 10's and I am nowhere near the fastest street car around here but feel I am fast enough to compete.

When I had my last C6 that ran mid 12's, I just didnt get in eliminations. I like the way they do it. You have a class for the fastest true street cars and a class for the guys that are race cars or close to it.

IMO, it takes a 11 second car to compete in the tuner class anymore. And of course with the EVO's, DSM's, ect these can almost be lumped in with the street cars because its not as lobsided as it used to be now that turbo's/nitrous are putting these 4&6cyl cars at a new level.

You start creating to many classes and the elimination will last for 3 hours and cut into everyone else's racing.

The FLD's were meant to be a place where you and your buddies could race without getting into trouble....PERIOD!

If you want to race with a handicap so everyone is equal, go to a drag strip and bracket race.

If you are too slow to race in top street, then either make your car faster, or just race your buddies for fun like we have done all along.

Adam,
I'm not sure which Beaver Run event or car you are referring to specifically. I can tell you that the last Beaver Run event we didn't even run a Big Dog class. I also don't remember telling any 15 second import or fwd car that they couldn't run in Top Tuners. If I did I am guessing I misunderstood what you were asking.

Keep in mind the classes (pink slip or previous format) were never intended to encompass all of the the cars in attendance. The majority of cars are there to race each other, have fun and at the end watch the folks with the "fast" cars duke it out. If you are the owner of a "fast" car then you have an additional opportunity/format to participate in besides the regular racing. As I am sure you have seen the finals are a very small percentage of the actual racing that took place in the past. Now the new pink slip format has added an "all day eliminations" aspect to the event that anyone can go after. In fact we intentionally tried to give out the initial pink slips to the slowest cars in each class and not the "fast" cars. If you had been there on Sunday it is very possible that you would have received a Top Street pink slip and had to "defend" it.

BTW - I have a few n2o kits laying around if you're interested......

It's a 200 mile built-to-race engine/car that would grenade a rod on the way to the local swap meet. Lets not try to candy coat this RACE ONLY vehicle. If it breaks at the track call AAA. I think Mike and I's car are very similar performance wise and I raced the viper. I knew once he built boost it was over so I had to get him out of the hole so I upped my RPM's. No matter what I think he will edge me out but that was my worst launch of the day. If I dead hook like I was some other passes, this one would be a tad closer.

Sweet bring it out. I will be back in a few weeks. This week I am on vacation and then I need to figure out the rear suspension issue. The car runs great. The pass against that STI was one of the slower passes because I messed up the burn out. I can't wait to get back out and get the car to plant the power. If you are talking about this EVO it is hard for us RWD guys making a bit of power to get him out of the hole on a track with little prep. He got me out of the hole too.

That was a good launch. He had me by lengths and I had to run him down. Looks like we need to line them up too.

I appreciate that and I'll do the same......

I overreacted when I banned you.
I had a bad day and your comments pushed me over the edge. I was out of line in banning you and should have let your remarks go.

I also realized that I went too far with you and that's why I let the "other" issue on the forum go as long as I did before dropping the hammer.

I am sorry. Will you forgive me?

No hard feelings here at all. Everyone disagrees some of the time, it's life :).

Sweet bring it out. I will be back in a few weeks. This week I am on vacation and then I need to figure out the rear suspension issue. The car runs great. The pass against that STI was one of the slower passes because I messed up the burn out. I can't wait to get back out and get the car to plant the power. Have a great vacation, I'm in need of one also. I should have the car up and running soon, also had some massive boost leaks including the injector o-rings. My best run at the DSM Shootout was an 11.4 and it was my first run that I eased outta the hole and left of at about 3/4 track. I was just trying to warm everything up...

I would say at a prepped track you will put some lengths on me. I am about 100HP shy of being able to run with you but I'm down for a freindly race. I hope you can make the track rental......your trap speed should be awesome and you are going to need awesome track prep to put that power down off the line.
