We have Driller's blue Lincoln at the shop for a ton of work.. First is a Custom Fox Lake built short block. It contains a Ford Racing Boss Block, Kellog crank, manley rods, diamond pistons, moly rings, its 323ci with 11.5:1 compression, I am installing custom bullet cams, fox lake stage3 "B" heads with upgraded springs, Romac balencer, L Maf, #42 injectors, prw flexplate, all ARP hardware, Canton windage tray, pollished t-body, custom IMRC plates, and a bunch of other goodies. Here is the progress so far.

I'm glad someone asked. I spent quite a bit of time researching this build and analyzing the engine build on the computer. I came up with 475 and 525 FWHP at 6000 and 7000 rpms respectively. It has 8000 rpm capabilities but I am not so sure the EEC-IV computer will tolerate that. So basically a 500 HP N/A motor.
When I asked the potential of the shortblock, I was told similar combinations put out at least 1.6 HP per cu.in., so at 323 cu.in. that would be 516 HP. Pretty close to what I calculated. :nerd:
The entire wild card in all this is the intake. The stock Lincoln intake has had the tubular runners radiused and polished. The IMRCs have been deleted and the ports polished. The throttle body was ported/polished. There was nothing left on the table undone so it is what it is.
The dyno will eventually tell us what we need to know. I expect over 400 RWHP N/A. How much over 400 will be dependent on the intake. RWTQ should be over 400 and hopefully pretty flat.
at least 8-900hp!
LOL... we are going to need a BIG shot boss!!!

yea i wanted to post on this but was not sure if you had a serious power adder that tim failed to mention. at least hes leaving it wide open from 8 to 900 is a huge span. what that like 892 horsepower. my guess is that it should be between these two numbers. Nice build may i add i like things that are different.

Well that block can certainly take.
That's why I chose it.
I figure once it's tuned and running well, we'll be looking for more power and it should be able to take anything I may decide to throw at it.

Well, we tuned on her for a good while today and once we got the tune looking good the torque convertor started to do some weird stuff on the dyno, the car made 324hp/328tq@5200 rpms and we think the convertor was unlocking on us, the HP curve was on a direct route to the moon and pow the convertor goes south.....

We couldn't get a full pull on the car. When we got around 5200 it acts like it almost downshifts or the converter unlocks? Might be the converter can't hold it?
Highest HP to the wheels was 324 just before it dives and tries to come back. Torque flat from 4000 rpms to 5200 before it dives. Peak torque 328.
My gut feel is if we could've gotten it to pull to 6500, we would've been close to 400 RWHP.
The car feels 500 pounds lighter on the street and tears the tires through 1st into second before it even thinks about hooking. Sounds healthy. :)

My converter won't stay locked on the dyno, its a common issue. Single disk lock up converters aren't meant to hold WOT on a loaded dyno.
Its no big deal, you just won't have big dyno numbers to show all your internet friends.

LOL... Yeah, like I told Tim, the dyno number is not all that important - what it does at the track is what counts for me.

Another thing it could be is a lot of times cars with cams and aftermarket converters will have false knock and depending on how your ecu works it could potentially unlock the converter no matter what you tell it to do.
I looked at my logs from the dyno and every pass was 0* KR other than the one we tried locking the converter on it had 1* KR until it unlocked.

Good thinking but this block doesnt have the provisions for knock sensors, so we turned them off in the tune.

Had a track event I attended in OH, first of the season and first on the new motor. We started the time trials with a 12.97 @ 103 mph and then followed up with 3 solid 13.0x ETs. I ran 12.91 and 12.90 later in the eliminations. I lifted at the end and of the 12.91 run and the 12.90 run was on the brakes and still at 102 mph.
Pretty pleased with the early numbers on the new setup.

how does the converter feel? Not bad for the first time out on a new set up!

Felt fine, no problems whatsoever... it's just a dyno thing.
I couldn't get the data logger to work but AFR was mid 12s consistently. I didn't try any tweaking of the tune at all due to time restraints and the data logger not working. Last year at this event it was much cooler and I was dialing 13.6. So to run 12.9 on the brakes in worse air was a HUGE improvement.
Not bad for a new setup indeed. Felt good to be back in the saddle and I feel I have a solid foundation to build on.
Thanks. ;)
